Over the years Morecambe Band has competed in regional and national competitions at all levels, culminating in contesting at the very highest Championship level in 2014. Since then the band had taken a break from contesting and only just returned to it when the COVID pandemic brought all band rehearsals and performances to a stop. Although unable to play “live” together, the band, led by their inspired musical director Andrew Porter, decided to enter the 2021 International Kapitol Cory online Championships. The results placed Morecambe Band as outstanding winners in
their section with their entry entitled “A Brief Encounter by The Sea”. The award winning performance and production brought rave reviews, not least by Cory MD Philip Harper, and the band were nominated in the end of year awards by 4Barsrest in the Contest Performance of the Year category.

In February 2022 the band entered the North West Area Championships and were the victors in the 4th Section. This success was followed up in June 2022 with a winning performance and near clean sweep of prizes at the Kirkby Lonsdale Entertainment Contest. The band have also enjoyed a full programme of concerts since March to the end of August.
