Dobcross Silver
History
Dobcross Silver Band was established in 1875 and for over 140 years has built an outstanding tradition for developing musical talent and performing quality music. Based in the heart of Saddleworth at the famous Dobcross Band Club we perform regularly within our village and more widely, and of course play an integral part in the Whit Friday marches and contests. The Band have a busy schedule of concerts and contests at also perform in smaller groups at weddings and other special events.
After a difficult last ten years, the Band is now resurgent under MD Jason M Smith and is performing to a high level consistently. In addition to qualification for the National Finals, for the first time in 14 years, the Band have enjoyed significant contest wins at Holmfirth and Buxton and achieved top place in the our section at 7 out of 8 Whit Friday contests we entered. We are determined to keep this momentum and our mission is to return the Band to the levels of prominence it once enjoyed in the brass banding world.
