Flookburgh Silver
History
Flookburgh is an ancient fishing village situated at the Northern end of Morecambe Bay (formerly North Lancashire) and since 1974 the Southern point of Cartmel Peninsula, South Cumbria. Fishing on the Sands continues today, the most famous product being Shrimp. The relevance of this is because back in 1909 a group of local fishermen and market gardeners decided to form a Band and named it the Flookburgh Village Hall Band.
Flookbugh Band started to compete in the North of England Area Championships in 1987 and this year claimed it's 8th North of England Area Title. The corrnet section for the Finals will include two teenagers that have come through the training Band.
