Crwbin
History
Crwbin Silver Band is a friendly, enthusiastic and committed 3rd section community brass band based in the small village of Crwbin in rural Carmarthenshire, West Wales. We have a long history of competing annually at the Welsh Regional area contest as well as local contests organised by both West Wales and SE Wales Brass Band Associations. In March we were runners up in the area contest in Swansea. This has secured promotion back to the 2nd Section in 2025. The band competes annually at the Welsh National Eisteddfod of Wales - a week long festival celebrating the language and culture of Wales. We are proud of our many successes at the Eisteddfod over the last few years, consistently amongst the prizes. The band also performs local concerts, plays in carnivals, fundraising events and various community functions. This is our third appearance at the National Brass Band Championships - the first was as a 4th Section band back in 2010 at Harrogate and in the 3rd Section at Cheltenham in 2022. The current Musical Director Alex McGee works as a teacher and as a freelance composer and the band’s repertoire includes many of his compositions.
