Emley
History
Emley Brass Band is a traditional village-based brass band with roots that date back to around 1870.
Emley is located between Huddersfield and Wakefield in the heart of West Yorkshire. We are very proudly a village band with our own band room in the centre of the village and many of our players call Emley their home! We regularly perform at village events and are well supported by the local community.
One of our favourite events of the year is our Real Ale Festival which sees our band room transformed into a bar for the Easter weekend. This is a fantastic social event for our players, supporters and the village and helps us to raise much needed funds.
We take part in 4 or 5 contests per year and perform in a wide variety of concert venues. We have an excellent reputation for highly professional and entertaining concerts and work very hard under the guidance of our innovative Musical Director Tim Sidwell to keep presenting fresh new concerts every year.
This year Emley Brass Band secured the highest contesting finish in the band’s 150 year history and qualified for the National Finals for the first time in over ten years.
