Thoresby Colliery
History
Thoresby Colliery Band have been contesting and entertaining audiences for over 75 years. Formed by the colliery in 1948, the band have gone from strength to strength. Although the pit has now gone, the band are still very proud of their local heritage and the links they hold with the local community.
Most of the musicians in Thoresby Colliery Band are passionate amateurs, who devote a considerable amount of their free time to rehearsals, performances and personal practice. The band rehearses twice a week at their band room in Clumber Park and combines a wealth of experience to achieve the standard of performance you will hear today.
