Hitchin

History
Hitchin Band was formed way back in the 1860's. This makes the band one of the oldest brass bands in the world still performing, giving Hitchin an almost unique piece of 'Living Heritage', being a cornerstone of music in the Hitchin area for over 150 years.
Hitchin Band is very proud of its strong links with charitable organisations including the local Royal British Legion, plus Round Table / Rotary Clubs, and St Mary's Parish Church Hitchin. Our Christmas concerts are always very well supported.
Away from Hitchin, the band has carried the name of the town far and wide, being featured on national television and radio broadcasts. The band have undertaken several European tours, forging new friendships across Europe offering reciprocal hospitality to the bands when visiting UK.
The band has fostered young musicians to learn to play with the formation of a Junior Band, which gives them an opportunity to graduate to play alongside our more experienced members. All the band's members, committee and supporters are dedicated to see that the band continues to thrive and encourage and progress younger players.
Hitchin Band are pleased to be representing the London and Southern Counties Region at this year’s National Finals.
