Brass Band World and Kapitol Promotions to support Foden’s youth competition
Brass Band World and Kapitol Promotions Ltd., (which promotes and organises the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain), has joined forces with Foden’s Band to support the Sandbach outfit’s successful annual Solo, Duet and Quartet Competition.
Philip Morris, of Kapitol Promotions, commented: “Besson has supported the competition loyally for many years, and now Brass Band World magazine and Kapitol Promotions has stepped into help. We are keen to help events that encourage the next generation of players and the educational outreach work by Foden’s Band’s work within the youth sector of brass banding deserves applause. We’re delighted to help this competition, which will help to inspire the youngsters who take part in our Regional and National Finals events.”
Andy Rolfe, who organises the Solo, Duet and Quartet competition for Foden’s Band, also commented: “We're absolutely delighted that we have new support from the respected Kapitol Promotions and Brass Band World companies. Although an established part of the banding calendar, we are continually adding to the competition as it develops.”
Now in its ninth year, the Solo and Quartet Competition, hosted this year at Sandbach School on 2 November in three performance venues, attracts competitors from across the UK and Europe, who perform for three respected adjudicators judging in the open, in the following categories:
SLOW MELODY
11 and under; 12 and 13; 14-16; 17-19; Vintage; Open.
AIR VARIE/FLORID
Under-16; 16-21; Vintage; Open
DUET
11 and under; 12-16; Open; Parent/Child duet
ENSEMBLE (3-8 players)
11 and under; 12-16; Open
There are trophies for each section and the overall winner of the Blue Riband
