Great Yarmouth

History

Great Yarmouth Brass was formed in 1973 and is based in the Norfolk seaside town of Great Yarmouth, drawing players of all ages from the local area. The Band performs at a variety of engagements throughout the year, and has enjoyed being ‘resident band’ on the Bandstand in nearby Gorleston-on-Sea. It is especially proud of its record of helping local organisations and charities to raise money through fundraising concerts, and also attends local civic and community events. The Band is entirely self-supporting and members do not pay any subs. The Band also has a Training Band (GYB Future Brass) and runs a schools outreach programme.

2019 has been quite successful so far, with a 6th place at Butlins and then qualifying at the Regionals in Stevenage. This will be the Band’s fifth appearance at the National Finals under MD Colin Swaep (2003, 2007, 2013, 2018 and now 2019).
